5 Awesome Facts About Book Bloggers

We bloggers? We’re kick-ass.

We all know that book bloggers are awesome as heck, but here’s a little something to prove that fact even further. (I’ll probably have a part 2 put up since we’re that amazing.) Anyway, let’s get to it!

#1: We’re extremely patient.

We’ve mostly mastered the art of patience since we spend years waiting for books (sequels especially because asdfghjkl) to FINALLY make it into our little (or they’re just mine?) grabby hands, and for the words to sink into our brains… *cough*

We’re ALSO patient because sometimes we itch to share a post we LOVED writing, but are way too OCD to go off schedule. Heh. Patience, little grasshopper.

#2: We’re perfectionists.

Because of that one time we spelled a book title/author’s name wrong and were scarred for life… Now we proofread our post at least twice before hitting “Publish.”

#3: We have abnormal body clocks.

Since blogs are available for people to read all over the world, we need to make sure our posts get attention from the right audience. Maybe that means sleeping at 2AM for some of us, or taking long naps after lunch for when the crowd’s thin. Also we HAVE to read that “one last chapter” before going to bed, which also ticks off at least another hour of our sleep time… *cries*

#4: We can cram… fabulously.

Sometimes life gets busy, or our brains push back blogging duties for the meantime, and we miiiight forget that one review or blog tour post that had to go up. BUT IT’S NOT TOO LATE. Cramming powers to the rescue! Our brain juices will be able to handle this dilemma marvelously. And like I said, we’re perfectionists. We can come up with amazing posts with the snap of a finger. Like magic!

#5: We like giving warm hugs. And receiving them!

YOUR TURN!

  1. Ahh, this is so true! I think we have all developed such patience especially – I hate having to wait for the releases that are so far away! I’m such a perfectionist too. I think I proof read my posts at least 5 times before publishing! :D

  2. This post is the best! Everything you’ve stated is 100% applicable to me haha. I always feel like I’m an impatient person but in hindsight I am impressed with my level of patience when waiting for book for a period that sometimes spans over a year. I think out of all the facts, the abnormal body clock is the one I relate to the most. My sleeping patterns were already a bit messed up when I was at university and blogging has taken that to new heights. There have been so many instances where sleep has been sacrificed in favour of finishing a book. :P

  3. What do you meeeeeeean, WHICH do I identify with? WE ALL IDENTIFY WITH AAAAAALL! (Seriously, though, I love this rundown. Both because it’s SO true, and because every individual trait listed applies to both the reading aspect and the blogging aspect soooo well.) BOOK BLOGGER POWER!

  4. I am in love with this post! Aimee, this is pure genius! I can relate to all of these reasons, most especially with numbers 3 and 4! I once forgot to draft and publish a review for a book tour and had to cram a comprehensive book review in less than 2 hours. I don’t know about anyone else, but that, to me, sounds a lot like cramming! Also, I agree with trying to get the right audience when a particular post goes live. Ahhh, the struggles, right? But hey! We still love what we’re doing, so, here’s to more years (or lifetimes, if possible) of book blogging! <3 Hope you're doing well! :)

  5. Hahahaha! “but are way too OCD to go off schedule” — SOOOOOoo true. I’ve actually texted family/friends if I finish a post I’m particularly proud of to tell them that they need to read it. But that they need to wait until, oh, next Tuesday, because that’s when it’s scheduled. >.<

  6. Oh my gosh, I love this post! YES WE ARE. Aimee, I love the blogger confidence you’re promoting here! xD All five are absolutely true! I don’t know how we do it, but we are unstoppable when it comes to procrastination and managing reading/reviewing at the same time as working or studying for school! It’s crazy! AND HUGS. THE HUGS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT. <3

  7. I would say YES! to everything…except #5. If anyone tries to hug me, I chucking a hard cover copy of War and Peace at them. Instead, I would like to leave this: All those posts promoting love and positivity (like this one), which is basically like a warm hug!

  8. I love this post! I’ve yet to master the sleeping part. I feel like I have the worst sleeping schedule on the planet, so I’ve had to add things to posts so they add them to my Facebook and Twitter for me. Finding out when my readers are actually online is something that I need to work on.

Patience is such a good one! I actually have a posts drafted up for next year already just so everything is all together for them. lol

  9. From what I have seen, book bloggers are more inclusive and way more forgiving than the average population of people. We champion for marginalize people, point out problematic thinking, and challenge people to become better. I certainly know that I have become an overall better person since I started blogging, and I like who I am more since I started to hang out with this group. :)

  10. I practically relate to every single one of those traits XD ESPECIALLY the cramming, the perfectionalist, and the body clocks. I can’t count how many times I’ve stayed up after 2AM writing a post or reading a book. Couldn’t have it any other way. What can you expect from book nerds?? Great post! :)

  11. I loooove everything that you said here! Especially about our abnormal body clocks. I totally agree that we tend to not have a specific sleep timing, and that one more chapter can lead to….well, the end of the entire book HAHAH. Fabulous post!
