Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the wonderful girls at The Broke and the Bookish.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesdays topic is, “Top Ten Books to Read if You Like X,” X being a form of entertainment. I chose food to be that X. No, seriously. Everyone loves to eat! I like to eat. But I know people who like to eat MUCH MORE than me. So if you like X type of foods, I’d gladly recommend some reads you’ll love!

If you like SPICY FOODS, I’d recommend some reads with ALL THE TENSION, like:

♥ The Blood of Eden series by Julie Kagawa: TENSION. It’s all here, my friend. Especially in book three. Angst. ANGST.

♥ Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover: Ha. We all know I hate this book with a burning passion, but I’ve you’re looking for all kinds of tension, try it. Everyone’s saying they felt all the feels. I’m not part of this “everyone,” but maybe you’ll be!

If you like your food SALTY/BITTER, check out some first-book CLIFFHANGERS that’ll make you await the sequels, like:

Stolen Songbird (The Malediction Trilogy, #1) by Danielle L. Jensen: If you follow me anywhere, you’ll know I’m OBSESSED with this book. I seriously need to steal Jensen’s manuscript for book two because that ending. You all have to read it to know what I’m talking about. Read my review on the blog or on Goodreads to find out why I’ve been forcing this book on everyone!

The Darkest Minds (The Darkest Minds, #1) by Alexandra Bracken: TEARS IN MY EYES, PEOPLE. I actually have book two but I am scared to read it, lol. Anyway, this one is a horrible, horrible cliffhanger that’ll make you bawl your eyes out. I’m serious.

For more cliffhangers, check out my goodreads shelf!

If you like SWEETS, I’d recommend something CUTE and FLUFFY like:

♥ Ask Again Later by Liz Czukas: You want a cute guy, a naive but caring girl, all in a super fluffy read? Try this one!

♥ Pivot Point (Pivot Point, #1) by Kasie West: The ultimate fluffy paranormal read. If you’re sick of those heave paranormal romances and need a break, give this one a shot!

Check out more light cutesy reads here and fluffy reads here!

If you like COLD DRINKS, try something THRILLING and SUSPENSEFUL like:

♥ The Girl from the Well by Rin Chupeco: This was a CREEPTASTIC PAGE-TURNER. I kept going at it and reading while I was walking in the street and nearly tripped over my own feet. It was that engaging. It doesn’t come out until the second half of the year, but wimp or not, I would suggest giving this a shot. Read during the day, people!

♥ The Legend trilogy by Marie Lu: We all know that this is one of my all-time favorite series. If you haven’t read it, what the hell are you waiting for? You’ll need all this thrilling adventure in your life!

If you like NOODLES and PASTA, check out some LONG-ASS READS like:

♥ Seraphina (Seraphina, #1) by Rachel Hartman: Don’t worry about this being over 500 pages, because every page is interesting. Trust me. You’ll love Seraphina as a heroine and every single thing she does.

♥ The Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead: I suggest you binge read this series if you haven’t already. The books get bigger and bigger, the last book around 600 pages.

  1. This is such a great way to spin it. Food is totally entertainment after all. I really MUST read Pivot Point (even thinking about buying it, EEK!). Also have to read Vampire Academy, although I’m not sure if I’ll like it, so that might be a library one :)

    1. Thanks, Emily! <3 I always need food when I read. I hope you enjoy Pivot Point and VA. A lot of people didn't enjoy Vampire Academy books 1-2, but most got into the series in book 3! :D

  2. THIS IS THE BEST. YOU ARE A FREAKING GENIUS!!!!!! Although, when I saw your title, I thought you were going to list books with loooots of food in them. Hehe. And I’m thinking…ohh Charlie and the Chocolate factory! lol But anyway. THIS ROCKS. I love food too.

    1. Haha! x) A lot of people comment on how awesome Legend would be as a movie (it will be turned into one in the next couple of years, I think) and hopefully you’ll enjoy it! Luckily you’ll be able to binge-read. I had to wait forever after the Prodigy cliffhanger!

  3. I love the way you put a spin on this topic Aimee! And I knew there was a reason I liked you – Legend is one of my all time favorite series as well!

I’ve had The Darkest Minds for almost four months now, or maybe even longer, but I keep passing it up! Maybe I’ll start that one soon; I’m in the mood for feels :D Though maybe not cliffhangers… At least I can run out to the store and buy the sequel if it’s that bad.

    1. LOL! I’m so glad to hear that you like me, Kayla! xD Legend is AMAZEBALLS. <3

I have the sequel and keep passing it up, haha! I don't know why, maybe it's because the cliffhanger at the end of TDM traumatized me. :P

  4. Oooh! I love how you did this topic. It’s so freaking creative. I’m particularly drawn to your sweet category. I really enjoyed Ask Again Later and I loved Pivot Point. I still have yet The Darkest Minds but it’s on my tbr. But I think I’m going to wait until the series is all out before I start.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Such an awesome way to divide your books :D I agree with Spicy – Forever song. That is a very tense book. Salty/Bitter for Stolen Songbird is also a great pick. It definitely leaves you thirsty for more!

  6. Aimee…your TTTs are always so creative! I love how you really think outside the box! :D As for your choices, I’m with you on all of them. Darn, that The Darkest Minds cliffhanger tortured me for the longest time! (And the one at the end of Insurgent and Catching Fire as well!) Ask Again Later – while it wasn’t my favorite read – is without a doubt a great fluffy read, like you mentioned.

Thanks for sharing and great post / choices! <3

    1. Thanks Zoe! <3 How could I have forgotten Catching Fire?! D: The movie cliffhanger's pretty much making me wait for Mockingjay part 1, too! :P Insurgent… Nope, can't remember anything about it. xD Ask Again Later wasn't really great, but one of those really good ones for some mindless reading. :)

  7. Haha! Food is an excellent choice to be X (: Food is not only essential to life, but also amazingly good and awesome. I just love food. Especially junk food. Anyway.

hehe Stolen Songbird [; Can always count on you to bring up that gem. But I actually haven’t read the book that you put in the same category, The Darkest Minds. It seems like an interesting read, and the first of a series too?? Ooooo. The cliffhanger also has me curious.

The Girl from the Well also seems interesting! Hopefully I can get my hands on that when the time comes c:

    Awesome list Aimee!

Haha! I’ve been pushing it down everyone’s throats and raving about it whenever I can. :P The Darkest Minds has a tear-jerking cliffhanger, so if you want to read it make sure you have book 2 right beside you! :D

I hope you enjoyed it and not get creeped out, lol!
