New Year, New Blog | Blog Revamp

post-blog-revamp

Well, this is embarrassing. It’s been almost a year since I last posted, and I do have some slightly legitimate reasons for that (which I will explain in some other post some other time), but basically I haven’t done a lot of reading. Like all my motivation for reading WENT COMPLETELY DOWN THE DRAIN just fell flat this year. And that sucks.

Help Wanted: a Fabulous Co-Blogger

So school is coming up for me next week. Tuesday. Yep, I know I’ll probably be incredibly busy since I’ll have to adjust, and I have to focus a bit more this year because I know I slacked off a lot in the last quarter of last year.

That being said, I don’t know if I’ll be able to actively write posts, comment back, and be social in general. Zoe will still be here as my awesome co-blogger, and Marga is still a sporadic contributor, but I’m looking for another amazing addition to our team.

Deadly Darlings Turns 1! (Blogging Tips + Appreciation Post + Giveaway!)

BlogoversaryMy, I wrote this post pretty quickly, since I didn’t know that our blogoversary was so soon! Deadly Darlings has undergone a lot of name changes in the past year of its existence. First, we were The Shadower’s Shelf. After a while, I realized that it sounded really tacky and decided to change it to Read by the Undead. And just recently, I realized how much I liked shorter blog names. Thus we became Deadly Darlings!

And on our first blogoversary, I would like to share some things I learned from the community:

♥ Comment around often. Seriously, getting to know bloggers is one of the things that makes blogging fun.
♥ Instead of advertising your posts, just be friendly to other bloggers. They’ll appreciate the kindness.
♥ Respond to comments on your blog. If you check out my old posts, a lot of the comments have no responses and I seriously regret not speaking to them when I had the chance.
♥ Don’t sugarcoat your reviews, but make sure that you’re words aren’t hurtful, offensive or vulgar. Be professional. You can hate a book, but don’t take it out on the author.
♥ Post what you want to post. Don’t make this about pleasing others. It’s YOUR blog, so do what YOU want to do.

The most important blogging rule is to make sure you are ENJOYING what you are doing. Don’t blog if you don’t want to. Seriously.

To my Darlings

There are a few people I would like to thank, for the experiences and for helping me out when I started. If your name’s not specifically mentioned on this list, but as long as I’ve talked to you even ONCE, that means I also love you. This is just a list of people I would like to SINCERELY THANK for various reasons.

♥ Dyan: Thanks for letting me force you into blogging with me, even if you didn’t really want to in the first place. I’m really glad you agreed to!

♥ Faye: Thank you for taking me under your wing, and for being the older sister I never had. Thanks for answering all my weird and stupid questions, and for helping me out with my blogging techniques.

Jules, Khanh and Chiara: Thank you guys for being some of the first people who interacted with me on my blog and on Goodreads. You guys might not remember it, but I’ll thank you anyway for it. You guys motivated me to keep blogging and reviewing.

Dre, Jules, Kate, Ella, Irish and Nix: Since you guys are the first bloggers I’ve met in real life, thank you for allowing me to get to know you guys–it’s a huge privilege, really–and talking to me even if I’m pretty quiet! I treat you all as my lovely older sisters! I’ll be louder next time, I promise.

My Filipino Bloggy Friends: You guys know who you are and I heart you all! I’m sending you a thousand hugs and kisses and cake.

All Bloggers I’ve Interacted With and Have Befriended, No Matter Where You Live: I LOVE YOU GUYS, seriously. Even if I’ve only talked to you once, that’s okay. We’ll talk more in the future, okay? I still love you to bits.

♥ All Blog Readers and Commenters: Holy crap, THANK YOU. I don’t even know how to properly thank you guys for coming to the blog, even if it’s your first time here. Thanks so much! It means a lot to me. Every time you guys visit the blog, an angel is born. No I’m serious.

All Authors and Publishers: Thank you for creating all the books that I read, will read and will stalk. Books are the glue that keep the community together!

My mom is super awesome and she allowed me to host a giveaway! Of course, I’ll be using my own money for this one, but you all get the point. Love you, mom. Anyway, since I am just 14 and the money will be coming out from my own pocket (and Dyan’s, since she agreed to pay a little, yay!), I will only be giving away any book from The Book Depository worth $12 or less. The giveaway will be open for 20 days, guys! A winner will be e-mailed on the 24th, a day after the giveaway ends.

Here are the giveaway guidelines:

Giveaway is open internationally as long as TBD ships to your country.
I am not responsible for any package lost or damaged in the mail.
Giveaway is open to anyone over 13 years of age.
All entries will be checked. We have the right to consider your entries void if tasks are not completed.
Winner will have three days/72 hours to respond to my email before another winner is chosen.
All information needed (email addresses, shipping addresses, etc.) will only be used for shipping and contacting purposes and will be deleted once the giveaway is over.

So, everyone makes wishes on birthdays right? I guess my wish for the blog is that it runs for another fifty years, lol. No, seriously. If I last that long in this community, that would be really awesome.

Do you have any birthday wishes for Deadly Darlings?
