If you don’t know, I’m part of Talina’s fabulous secret organization for debut authors. You can learn all about it here!

For today’s Sassy mission, we’re to write an awesomely enthusiastic and heartfelt letter to a debut author of our choice. I decided to write an open letter to Michelle Andreani, because her upcoming debut looks AMAZING and I need it. ;)

Who is Michelle Andreani?

Michelle Andreani is the co-author of The Way Back to You, “a book about a road trip, grief, love, and a kitten.”

Michelle’s a liker of many things. These things include beaches, people who are saving the world, milkshakes, Luna Lovegood, and stories with big hearts.

She’s also a disliker of things, namely her terrible memory (though she’ll never forget the word that cost me the Spelling Bee in third grade: Dinosaur.), talking on the phone, that gross noise people make when they eat, and humidity. Blech.

My Open Letter to Michelle

Hi Michelle!

WHY DOES YOUR NEW BOOK SOUND SO AWESOME? Why is your hair so pretty? Why can’t I write a decent letter?

As a debut author enthusiast, I was scrolling through some Goodreads shelves and lists when I came across The Way Back to You. The title immediately drew me in, and when I read the synopsis, I was a goner.

I absolutely adore heartfelt and emotional books, and this one definitely sounds like one. Even just the synopsis itself is oozing feels, and goddammit I can’t hold my excitement!

Cloudy and Kyle just may find their way back to her... and to each other. ASDFGHJKL I cannot.

I’m excited to see Cloudy and Kyle get together (if it does happen!), but oddly enough, I’m also excited to see how their falling out goes. I mean, it’s something that happens to all of us, and I am so ready to relate.

Other than swoony feels, I know this book will make me cry tears of grief, too. Death is not only a powerful topic to write about, but also a tough one, too. It’s something not all authors can pull off, but I can sense that you will rock it.

I can’t express my enthusiasm and excitement enough–if ever you need anyone to *attempt to* pimp your book and spread the word, remember that I am here, lurking in the shadows and waiting for my call. ;)

Best of luck to you and Mindi with The Way Back to You! May it be a kick-ass bestseller!

Hugs,
Aimee

Six months ago, Ashlyn Montiel died in a bike accident.

Her best friend CLOUDY is keeping it together, at least on the outside. Cloudy’s insides are a different story: tangled, confused, heartbroken.

KYLE is falling apart, and everyone can tell. Ashlyn was his girlfriend, and when she died, a part of him went with her. Maybe the only part he cared about.

As the two people who loved Ashlyn best, Cloudy and Kyle should be able to lean on each other. But after a terrible mistake last year, they’re barely speaking. So when Cloudy discovers that Ashlyn’s organs were donated after her death and the Montiel family has been in touch with three of the recipients, she does something a little bit crazy and a lot out of character: she steals the letters and convinces Kyle to go on a road trip with her, from Oregon to California to Arizona to Nevada. Maybe if they meet the recipients—the people whose lives were saved by Ashlyn’s death—the world will open up again. Or maybe it will be a huge mistake.

With hundreds of miles in front of them, a stowaway kitten, and a list of people who are alive because of Ashlyn, Cloudy and Kyle just may find their way back to her . . . and to each other.

  1. A KITTEN? I’M SOLD! (I’m not even lying about that. I was literally sold at the word kitten. Instant add!)

The synopsis for The Way Back to You kind of reminds me of a movie I watched once called Searching for David’s Heart. (Good movie, by the way!) I am pretty excited to read it because it just seems like such a “me” book.

Thanks so much for bringing it to my attention, Aimee!

  6. I love this entire campaign, and GOSH THIS BOOK. I’ve had a longing for roadtrip books lately — possibly because I’m about to write a roadtrip book , and gosh, KITTENS AND DEATH. Is there a better combination? (Nope, definitely not.)

Fantastic rec! Will there be another mission coming up? Would definitely be looking forward to it :D
