Life

Aimee here!

This week has been INSANELY hectic school-wise. I cannot believe the amount of quizzes we’ve had this week (most of which I made a shit ton of careless mistakes–goodbye perfect grades), so I have been so inactive on social media and spreading blog love. :(

I STILL LOVE YOU ALL THOUGH! I totally just need to find some chill time to prove it to y’all.

FOR REVIEW

Madly by Amy Alward | Map to the Stars by Jen Malone

Madly has the most badass cover ever. I want a physical copy so I can stroke it. Map to the Stars is my first-ever Harper approval–hooray! (Although I’m 20% in and I seriously hate it with a burning passion right now. Rage-y Goodreads update can be found here.)

Hunter by Mercedes Lackey | A Whole New World by Liz Braswell | A Thousand Nights by EK Johnston

The book gods finally answered my prayers, and Disney ended up approving some of my NetGalley requests! Since bad publicity is still publicity, the negative reviews so far on A Whole New World have made me INCREDIBLY curious. Hunter also sounds totally badass. And I was jumping up and down at the A Thousand Nights approval because it’s been on my wishlist for ages!

Thank you so much to Simon & Schuster, HarperCollins and Disney Book Group! <3

About Aimee

Aimee loves being a little bookworm (okay–she doesn’t like being little). She also loves chocolates and sweets but is freaked out by the thought of possibly getting diabetes.

  1. Aaah it looks like Madly is the same as The Potion Diaries which I read recently and quite enjoyed – it is light and fun as fantasy, and doesn’t take itself *too seriously* (I do find it interesting when books are called different titles in different regions). A Thousand Nights looks really good – I love that cover, and now I’m really intrigued. Best of luck with school, I know how it feels to have so much going on with it, but balance is key – take breaks when you need them, I’m sure you’ll do amazingly! Hope you have a great week Aimee, thanks for sharing :)

    1. So glad to hear that, Eugenia! :D And it may be confusing sometimes, but most of the time the Aussie world keeps me updated on differing titles. ;)
A Thousand Night DOES look gorgeous! <3
I might take a break when exams come, but right now I'm still just trying to adjust. :D Thanks, lovely!

  2. I really enjoyed Madly (it was called The Potion Diaries in the UK), and hope you do too. I can’t wait for A Thousand Nights, I’ve heard some really great things about it :)

  3. YOU ARE SO LUCKY. Disney declined my request for two titles, but they only approved me for Spinning Starlight. But that’s still good, right? ;D Hope you enjoy your new ARCs! Harper hates me too, but one day I will prove them wrong! Happy reading Aimee!

  4. Hahahaha oh Aimee I love the title of this post. I am so sorry that you have had a rough week as far as school. :( That’s no fun. OOOOOH MADLY SOUNDS REALLY GOOD AND PLEASE PLEASE TELL ME WHEN YOU FINISH IT BECAUSE I NEED TO KNOW! I got Hunter and A Thousand Nights at BEA- they both look great!

  5. GOSH Aimee! I LOVE all of those book covers and have to have them in my hands like….YESTERDAY. I hope you enjoy them all and I can’t wait to see what you think of them. I kind of went finger happy and purchased a butt load of books on my Kindle. Still feeling guilty. And also, thanks for the shout out.♡♡

  6. Gah! The cover for Madly IS gorgeous ♥ I’m excited that you got Hunter and A Thousand Nights because they both sound awesome so I can’t wait to see how you’ll make out with them both! I’m sorry that school’s been sucking hard and no worries about being more absent. WE STILL LOVE YOU TOO! I hope this week will be kinder to you :) xx

  7. Sorry to hear about school! It’s still so weird to hear you talking about going back to school as I’m just off for summer vacation but regardless, school is school is school and it ALWAYS sucks.

Oy, careless mistakes are the worst. Honestly. I always say this but I’d so much rather make a mistake because I truly DID NOT KNOW something rather than a mistake I made even though I did know what I was doing, I just wasn’t thinking straight. Because then you get into the rabbit hole of goshdarnit if only I had been more careful, that’s one more mark I could have got… SO STRESSFUL but Aimee, I have all the confidence in you that you will BOUNCE BACK and SLAY THOSE CLASSES.

Hoping this week will be better in terms of school! :)

  8. Actually, I cannot see your rage-y GR status because GR IS DOWN. WHAT A SHOCK. I thought maybe in the two years I stopped blogging GR would get its shit together but EVIDENTLY NOT. Map to the Stars was my first HC approval too!!! Though I actually enjoyed it haha. But YAY FOR HYPERION APPROVALS!

  10. Oh man, I’m so glad I’m not in school right now, haha. I’m sure you’ll be able to up your grades later though!! Quizzes totally such- but you’re a smart girl so you’ll definitely be able to recover later. Not everyone can be perfect ALL the time! (That’s a lesson I had to learn the hard way, trust me.) I hope you can find some time to read and blog soon and spend some time relaxing!! <33

I am jealous of basically all the books you got, although boo for not liking Madly so far (though you're right, that cover is gorgeous). I've seen a lot of negative reviews for a Whole New World, but that has me curious too, haha. I'm wondering if I go in with lowered expectation if I'll like it more. That cover though. LOVE. A Thousand Nights sounds soooo good, I'm totally adding it to my TBR.

Loving the new sidebar- it looks great! I love how it's not super overcrowded. That's been a problem with alot of the blogs I read. Also, thanks for linking up to those great posts!! They sound awesome and I can't wait to check them out. :D

Lovely, lovely post, Aimee! I really hope that school improves for you soon- let me know if there's anything I can do for you (whether it be homework help, motivational quotes, or funny gifs!) <33.

    1. Thanks, Aneeqah! It’s actually my goal to try to care less about grades this year, so. ;)
Ah, I’ve seen mixed reviews on Madly so I’m going into it slowly but surely. Closer to the release date. I’m so, so curious about A Thousand Nights.
Aw, thank you so much! :D <3
Thank you! You're absolutely amazing. <33

  11. I requested Madly too on EW! It sounds like a fun and light read (and yes, the cover is pretty and badass!). Anyway, good luck with your school, Aimee. Quizzes are extremely frustrating! I’m going back to school at the end of July, and let’s hope I didn’t get a teacher who likes to give quiz!

  12. Your blogroll is totally gorgeous, Aimee. I just found so many new, exqually gorgeous blogs after scrolling through it, so I’m uber pleased. That’s right. I’m not just pleased. I’m *uber* pleased. The font you used is really, really beautiful.

I’m so interested to see how you feel about Madly, although it’s called The Potion Diaries here (no idea why the different titles), and the covers are rather different. Not sure I feel like this one suits the book, though I do really like the typography and whole design of it. I shall look out for your review! xx

  13. LOL at your rant of Map To The Stars, I hate insta love too. A Thousand Nights sounds really amazing, I hope you enjoy this one atleast – look forward to your reviews soon! Great haul Aimee :)

  14. Sorry about school being annoying :( Hopefully it’ll calm down a bit soon! Also… THE BOOK! Okay- I have to say that while I initially had NO interest in reading A Whole New World… I also want to, just to see why everyone hates it so much. You’re so right- negative attention IS still attention, and I am curious! I also enjoyed your ragey status updates. I will definitely be passing on that book! Yikes! I do hope you enjoy the rest of them though :D

  15. Okay, I’m very curious about Map the Stars. I’ll be on the lookout for your review. But it doesn’t seem like it’s gonna be good, ha.
I’m so excited for A Thousand Nights! Great haul, hon. Happy reading. :)

  16. I’M STILL BEAMING SO MUCH OVER THE FACT THAT YOU INCLUDED ME IN YOUR BLOGROLL (≧◡≦) My cyborg heart is malfunctioning because I feel so happy!

Oh is Madly also called The Potion Diaries…? I won that in a giveaway and I can’t wait to read it even though it has the most bizarre marketing ever: Hunger Games mixed with The Princess Diaries omg wHUT?! ah good luck with those pesky quizzes, random mistakes are my pitfall too.
