Today’s Weekly Recap is all about Aimee!Life

So we had a mini blogger meet-up which was the highlight of my week. I met Joy for the first time, and saw Faye, Jules, Shannelle, Irish and Francine (who, by the way, has the cutest fashion sense) again. We chatted about books (obviously), TV dramas and other fun topics. Faye and I also mentioned wanting to visit Aussie to meet some lovely Aussie bloggers one day. ;)

Also, I’m waiting for some book mail to arrive. Josiah @ Bookish Fanboy basically got my my emotions down at the time in this tweet.

Nothing Left to Burn by Patty Blount | Uprooted by Naomi Novik | Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon | Legacy of Kings by Eleanor Herman

I didn’t really love Dorothy Must Die, but I’ve heard pretty awesome things about The Wicked Will Rise! When our local bookstore offered a copy for me to review, I was sold. (Really, I can’t resist Fully Booked… They’re the best.) Nothing Left to Burn seems like an emotional book, which is my cup of tea. I featured Uprooted on a Waiting on Wednesday post and about died of happiness when my request was approved. Everything, Everything looks amazing, and it was another pleasant surprise of an approval! And Legacy of Kings–hooray for more historical fiction!

Thanks so much to Fully Booked, Sourcebooks Fire, Pan MacMillan, Delacorte and Harlequin Teen!

The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson | Little Peach by Peggy Kern

I bought The Girl of Fire and Thorns for the #SecondChanceChallenge. Little Peach was an unexpected book buy. I spotted it at the bookstore and remembered Faye giving it a high rating, so I decided to pick it up.

  1. Awww (: Seeing blogger meet-ups always makes me so jealous. Nobody lives where I do (except Danielle L. Jensen LOL) so it’s lonely over here haha. I would love to meet really any blogger because AHHHH. There’s nobody I really know in real life who cares about books to the extent I do haha. I just want to fangirl over cute relationships in books and amazing world building okay. Also, book bloggers are so nice and seem super cool. You’re no exception Aimee (: Would love to hang out and talk books and life with you.

Let me know how Wicked Will Rise is! I read Dorthy Must Die and quite enjoyed it but just for some reason have felt zero drive when it comes to picking up the sequel. I got approved for Everything, Everything also! LOL, perhaps we can do another buddy read?? I swear this time I’m not like missing half of the story haha.

    1. Have you met Danielle IRL? :D Aww. If only I was crazy rich, then I’d totally fly over there to meet you! Although I’d probably be super awkward. ;)
I actually didn’t like Dorothy Must Die myself, but so far The Wicked Will Rise is going good (10 pages in, haha). Yessss, we should! :D Maybe a bit closer to the release date though. ;)

  2. Yay! That blogger meet up looks so much fun! :D How exciting. One day (next year) I will meet a fellow blogger!

Ooh, yay for approvals. I received Everything, Everything too! <3 I'm so excited for it.

I loved Little Peach as well, it's dark, but so needed.

  5. Why yes, you DO need to come to Australia. We’re all pretty cool down here. :)

I’m usually interested in historical fiction, but oooh, Legacy of Kings looks really cool. Enjoy your book haul! I’m interested to see what you think in Girl of Fire and Thorns — that was one of the ones you DNF’d before, right? Hopefully you’ll like it more this time.

  8. I’d love to meet some other bloggers url. You’re so lucky, Aimee. I haven’t read any of those books but I’ve heard of a lot of them so that’s something. that sounds so fun! I have heard of Dorothy Must Die series, and girl of fire and thorns, but other wise no. Everything, Everything looks really good :D

  9. Ohhh Girl of Fire and Thorns is INCREDIBLE. Seriously. It just rules the world, and I hope you like it. XD Agh, I’m going to be the unhappy opinion on Everything, Everything though. *grumbles to self* It was just…ridiculous, imo. I’m SUPER curious to read your review on it, though.xDXD

  11. Eeeeehhh! I’m so jealous that you get to have these cool blogger meet ups with blogger friends Aimee, I wish I lived nearer to other bloggers that I knew, as I normally have to travel at least an hour on a train to visit my blogger friends :( And what great books you received too, I love seeing all your bookish photos on Instagram! I hope you have a great week! :)

    1. Aw. D: We definitely are lucky that we’re all sort of around the same area! We just had to meet halfway. :) Thanks so much, Jasprit! <3

  12. Meeting up with fellow bloggers is the best ♥ I’m actually envious of you all – I live in such a remote area that hardly any other bloggers live close enough by for us to meet up D: I wish we were all rich or you know, that we could all apparate and hang out together :D And you have a FANTASTIC haul too Aimee, I MUST get my hands on Uprooted! I’ll be looking out for your thoughts on it^^ I also still need to read Girl of Fire and Thorns. So many books, so little time hehe! Congrats on all the goodies and have a wonderful week! xx

    1. It is! <3 We all live sort-of close together, but it takes AGES for us to plan meetups! And I definitely would love to be rich so I can visit all the lovely bloggers everywhere. :) Thanks, Micheline! I hope I end up loving them all. :)

  17. Woah! Fully booked gave you a review copy? Damn I asked them a year ago and they said they don’t send out review copies which made me sad. 😭 I’ll try messaging them again. You gave me hope 😂 love your blog 💕

  18. Oh, you gorgeous beings you lot. It looks like you girls had loads of fun catching up and meeting one another. Wow, your bookstore gave you a review copy! That’s awesome. Considering you don’t have any PH based publishers over there, that might open the door for you guys to have a read and review program with a few of the book chains. You all spend enough money with them to justify it. Lovely haul Aimee, really interested to see what you make of TWMR. I read it not too long ago and although I loved Dorothy Must Die, the follow up really didn’t feel like a OZ retelling, more nonsense like Alice in Wonderland for me. I liked it, but didn’t love it sadly. Have a wonderful week of reading ladies <3

    1. Thanks, Kelly! We did have a lot of fun. Hopefully we can meet with you some day as well. :) And yes, although they only provide review copies every couple of months. :) Hopefully I’ll enjoy TWWR more than you did!
