5 Signs to Know That You Will Love A Court of Thorns and Roses
1.) You loved the Beast in the Beauty and the Beast Disney animation. Every single time I spotted something in the book that was even the tiniest bit reminiscent of the Disney movie, I would smile like an idiot and my mom or someone else would ask me if I was high.
2.) You enjoy cute moments… but also want to swoon at the sexy times. I never thought that my two favorite hero types (shy & sweet plus confident & sexy) could ever both be present in just one male. But Tamlin, you guys. Holy shit. Tamlin was sometimes adorable and I wanted to squish his face, and then he can be a total god in bed. My cheeks were flaming.
3.) You believe that you will always love your family, no matter what. Because Fayre was just the most amazing daughter and sister. Despite how crappy her family can be towards her, she did everything in her power to make sure that they were okay and tended to. And by the end of the book, I fell for both Fayre and her family.
4.) You love Sarah J. Maas’ writing. Or even if you don’t! Because writing-wise, I think this is Sarah’s best yet. It was just so elegant and at the same time still easy to get into. You’re going to be so immersed in this world and you wouldn’t want to get out of it.
5.) Side characters that rock are totally your thing. AKA someone please pull out Lucien from the book so I can have him! And I know a lot of readers are going to adore Rhysand as well (even if I didn’t).
2 Things That I Didn’t Love About ACOTAR
1.) This book had a ton of cliches in it. Believe it or not, I often caught myself mumbling, “Typical,” every now and then. I won’t go into specifics so I wouldn’t spoil you guys, but yeah. A lot of things were even similar to the Throne of Glass books.
2.) The potential love triangle made me cringe. This is actually one of the things I dislike about Throne of Glass as well, actually. It’s like they’re trying to make you think that there won’t be a love triangle, but you can just tell that there’s going to be one and it’s just going to be forced and awkward. No spoilers though.

Very cool review!! I already read and LOVED it! I’m also scared of the love triangle because at first I hated the potential but now I’m kind of in the midst of liking it. I’m just like nooooo!! It has to be Tamlin :/

Yes yes yes yes. Everything you said and more. After reading this book I felt that something was missing. Like it was good but not great. I agree I hated the love triangle aspect as well it definitely brings a book down for me. Perfect review!!!

I love this one Aimz, and was so swept up in it all that I didn’t notice those niggling little aspects that I’d normally pick up on. But looking back. it was pretty typical in places. The romance especially, although this was more mature than Throne of Glass, in content mainly. The ending was awesome though, and you can see the inkling of the love triangle which no doubt will heavily feature in the next book. Rhys is delicious! I can’t wait until book two to see what’s below all that bravado and snark. Great review Aimee <3 really enjoyed it.

Haha, thanks Kelly! I couldn’t keep nitpitcky part of me out. xD There was something typical about the romance, despite me loving it overall. And it was more mature, being NA. :) Personally I’m not a fan of Rhys. Guys with no sense of human rights = nope. xD

I absolutely LOVED this book, but I do understand what you mean about the cliche moments. I didn’t really mind, especially since the characters were well developed, and the writing pretty damn spectacular. I’m actually hoping they’ll be a love triangle because it’s RHYSAND! lol It was kinda hard not to like him by then end. Great review Aimee :)

So glad you loved this, Tika! I agree about the characters and the writing, but I’m the kind of reader who just can’t get past the nitpick-worthy details! And no, Rhys is so not for me. He’s kind of like The Darkling/Morpheus/Warner and I’m just like NO. xD Thanks girl!

I am quite un-keen for the upcoming love triangle, because I loathe them. I just want the girl to have ONE boy/man that she loves, and leave it at that. Sure, other guys can be interested in her but does she have to reciprocate? SIGH. Anyway, I think that both Rhysand and Tamlin are smokin’ babes so good luck to Feyre in choosing. Although I think we all know that Tamlin and Feyre will be endgame. When does the girl NOT choose the first guy she falls for? Uhm, like, never.
I really liked how upper-YA this was. Nothing was concealed. The sexy times, nor the fighting. I was so, so pleased by this.
I can’t wait to read the next book, to be honest, because I think the plot will thicken and become less predictable – I mean, it followed Beauty & the Beast pretty closely.

I HAVE THIS RIGHT NOW. I started reading a couple chapters, and as far as I can tell I do agree with you — the writing and atmosphere is A+, but there’s a bit of cliched stuff, especially in the setting (although I DO love the Children of the Blessed!) and the backstory. Although I haven’t read far enough to meet the awesome side characters, which are totally my thing.

I’ve never read anything by this author. I don’t tend to gravitate toward fantasy a lot, but I do want to try more and I keep hearing really good things about this one. I think it’s cool she wrote a fantasy NA.

I wasn’t a fan of Throne of Glass but I really want to read this and see if I like it and then maybe continue with the rest of the Throne of Glass books. I hear this is pretty slow at first but when the romance starts, things roll fast? New Adult with Fantasy sounds like the coolest mash-up ever though *_*

I didn’t like Throne of Glass either, actually. The next books were pretty good though. :) I guess you can say this was slow at first, but I appreciated the time it took to build up into something more. :) There are actually a lot of NA fantasies, but this one’s just really popular. :)

I think you’re the second person U’ve seen who’s rated this 3.5 stars. I’m still pretty excited for this series even though I didn’t like TOG that much, my pre-order is taking forever to arrive :( I love FairyTale retellings so I hope this one is perfect. Let’s see.. The cover is so beautiful though.

I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this blog tour :( :( Truthfully, ever since I saw this post, I’ve actually had a Twitter follow spree of Philippine street teams etc etc just so I don’t miss out on these kinds of events, haha! I didn’t love Throne of Glass, so if you’re looking to start a good Maas book, this is the one I’d recommend. :)

I am so happy that you enjoyed this one for the most part. I think I liked it a bit more than you did (I rated it 4-stars) but to me, it didn’t quite live up to Throne of Glass – one of my ALL-TIME favorite series. I have faith that SJM could win me over with the next sequels here but I don’t think my love for Celaena could ever be topped. But yeah, Tamlin…*swoon* Awesome review Aimee^^ xx

I actually wasn’t a fan of Throne of Glass at first. D: Crown of Midnight and Heir of Fire were both pretty enjoyable, though! ^_^ And yes, I’m sure the ACOTAR and ToG sequels will be epic! ;) Tamlin.. *dies*

I agree, I adored Tamlin… but Lucien too! So, so much. I am still not completely sure what to make of Rhys either, so we’ll see ;) I definitely liked this book, and I felt like Feyre was a lot more likable than Celaena was, so that was another win. Great review, glad you enjoyed it!!

TAMLIN WAS SO SWEET AND ADORABLE AND SEXY at the same time. SArah J. Maas really struck a perfect balance with him that made me love him so much! Lucien, I loved how protective and snarky he was. There were definitely a few cliches within it, but oh man I loved it.

Love triangle?! WHAT?! I think I missed something :0 I’m pretty sur Feyre and Tamlin are OTPs and endgame. Rhys is just there to annoy them and be hot, naturally ;) I loved the writing and world-building. This book definitely did have its clichés though. Lovely review <3

Ugh, Aimee. I’m having to hold off on this one because of the potential love triangle. I just can’t do that to myself… fall in love with a couple only to learn in the next book another party gets involved. It will break my heart. So my fingers are crossed Sarah Maas doesn’t go there, but I’m kinda expecting it at this point. :(

Ooh I like the sound of this one! I have been meaning to try some of Maas’s writing and seeing as I am someone who has a soft spot for retellings I just know I am going to love this. And it’s funny because just the other day Beauty and the Beast was on the telling so I watched it again for the first time in about ten years xD It was just as good as the first time! It’s a bit of a nagging shame about the cliches, but I am sure I won’t mind.
