Must Read Titles is another feature on Deadly Darlings where we share new releases that you just have to read! Posts come thrice a year.
So I wanted another chance to push you guys to read some of the books I read and loved. I’ve also thrown in some books I haven’t read (or have read and didn’t like) that you might want to check out because of the hype surrounding them. And without further ado, here are the January to April books that you need to add to your shelves! (Arranged by date released.)
- February 24th | When Joss Met Matt by Ellie Cahill (for those looking for a glorious NA romance)
- March 24th | Liars, Inc. by Paula Stokes (for fans of romantic thrillers and realistic male narrators)
- Marth 24th | Written in the Stars by Aisha Saeed (because FEELS)
- April 3rd | Fuel the Fire by Krista and Becca Ritchie (my ovaries exploded while reading this)
- April 7th | Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli (because you need Simon in your lives… like, now)
- April 7th | None of the Above by I.W. Gregorio (because it’s diverse and important)
- April 14th | All the Rage by Courtney Summers (it basically had everything a good book needs, and you can win it right here)
- April 21st | Things We Know by Heart by Jessi Kirby (feeeeeeeelings)
- April 28th | Magonia by Maria Dahvana Headley (Jason is my husband–no stealing)
- January 6th | All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven (because apparently you’ll cry rivers)
- February 10th | Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard (I didn’t love this, but everyone else did)
- February 10th | My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga (pretty much what I said about All the Bright Places)
- February 24th | A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Shwab (Schwab is just the best at fantasy)
- March 3rd | Mosquitoland by David Arnold (diversity and tough issues = fabulousness)
- March 10th | The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows (an ending with feels, they say)
- March 17th | Under a Painted Sky by Stacey Lee (apparently you’ll get extremely attached to the characters)
- April 28th | An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir (if you haven’t heard of this yet, you’ve probably been living under a rock)
- April 28th | The Girl at Midnight by Melissa Grey (it’s being compared to Daughter of Smoke and Bone)
- April 28th | Black Iris by Leah Raeder (lesbian romance–holy mother of diverse books!)
(if you have more to recommend–let me know in the comments!)
- January 13th | The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black (recommended by Kara)
- April 7th | Awakening by Shannon Duffy (recommended by Danni)

About Aimee
Aimee loves being a little bookworm (okay–she doesn’t like being little). She also loves chocolates and sweets but is freaked out by the thought of possibly getting diabetes.
Pretty much every book you’ve posted here is on my mile-long TBR list. :P Especially The Girl at Midnight and An Ember in the Ashes — both of which I am dying to get my hands on a copy of. Looking at this I’ve just realized I don’t think I’ve read many 2015 releases. (Hey, I’m still catching up on last year’s books. :P) But my favourite, I think — so far, anyway — has to be THE DARKEST PART OF THE FOREST by Holly Black. It was one of those novels which was just EXACTLY what I love to read about.

Me too! I went to our local bookstore yesterday and they didn’t have them yet… Maybe this Sunday. xD
Ah, so glad you enjoyed that one! I’ve been meaning to read it, but I tried Holly’s Coldest Girl in Coldtown and DNFed it, so I’m kinda scared now. o_o

So many books! I think almost all of your loved its are on my TBR already but I need to check out When Joss met Matt and Written in the Stars still – Thanks for the recap!

That’s awesome! When Joss Met Matt is an underrated title, IMO. It needs to be checked out. ;) Written in the Stars is a gorgeous read as well!

Nearly ALL of these books have been in my TBR for ages. The only thing I’ve read here was Red Queen, lol. I definitely want to read Written in the Stars and Things We Know by Heart and etc etc (basically, I want to read nearly everything here). Great post!!! I can’t believe there are people I know who’ve read almost everything here! LIKE HOW?! It’s not even easy for me to gain access to them, lol :P

Ha, I know how you feel! My TBR is looooong. D; I didn’t love Red Queen myself, but hey, lot’s of other readers are adoring it! I FEEL YOU. Some people are reading machines–and have access to fabulous bookstores. xD

MOST of these books are in my TBR list and I haven’t even read a single one of them. I swear, I honestly think I live under a rock or something. Haha. My next read might be Red Queen since I’ve got a paperback of it, but I’m kind of wary since it’s got mixed reviews. Great post, btw. These books don’t just sound awesome, the covers are also gorgeous! ;D

Personally, I didn’t love Red Queen. D: But hopefully you’ll enjoy it more! Thanks–they are pretty fabulous-looking. ;)

I know Red Queen has gotten mixed reviews. I didn’t love it, but I liked it enough to give the second book a shot when it comes out.

I gave it one star actually, but I think I’m still going to read the sequel. :)

Oooo Magonia, I’m excited for that one Aimee! I have a feeling I’m going to be a fan of Jason, but I promise not to attempt to steal him from you. Maybe. Possibly. Okay, “promise” might be a bit of a strong word ;-) I loved The Orphan Queen as well despite that brutal ending and I can’t wait to read An Ember in the Ashes. I’m a little worried about all the hype, but hopefully it works as well for me as it seems to be for everyone else!

You should be excited, Jenny! ;) And don’t worry, I already locked Jason up in a cage. Bwahaha! Maybe I’ll wait for the Orphan Queen sequel to come out before reading then. ;) I’m scared and excited for Ember as well!

Yikes. Me and Awakening are just not friends. Definitely looking up When Joss Met Matt now! The amount of crap you have to sift through to get to a good NA is just. Ugh. And I am definitely super excited for Written in the Stars, so I hope I love it as much as you! I wish I had some recommendations, haha. Unfortunately I’ve just been reading the same stuff as everyone else, basically.
LikeLike
So sorry to hear you didn’t like Awakening! When Joss Met Matt is definitely more for a specific kind of reader, but if you’re okay with a few cliches, then definitely give it a shot! Written in the Stars was so good. <3 Haha, the hype is crazy these days–makes sense that you'd get sucked in. ;)

Of to add a lot of these to my TBR. Most of the hyped books are already on there but there are some that I should really get around to adding. Great post!

YES to All The Rage, Things We Know by Heart and Magonia! Seriously amazing books. The first one really punches you in the gut and makes you go She-Hulk, the second will give you the warm fuzzies, and the third will simply make you look at the world in a new wonder and awe, as if there are many other fantastic possibilities out there. Amazing post, Aimee!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED An Ember In The Ashes!! It’s one of my favorites of the year so far. I’ve also read The Girl At Midnight and Magonia but they didn’t appeal to me that much. I’d recommend Sarah J. Maas’ A Court Of Thorns And Roses. It just came out today and I loved it as much as Ember!

Yay, so glad to hear that! Sorry you didn’t like Magonia. :( The Girl at Midnight seems to be getting mixed reviews. And I would totally add ACOTAR, but it’s already a May title, so I’ll have that in my second Must Read Titles post sometime in August/September. :)
