For a couple of weeks, I bypassed this book when I was on trips to the bookstore because of some negative reviews I read on GR. I finally picked it up this week because I realized that if I liked Reboot, then I probably would like this too! And although it didn’t really crush my dreams or something, I was a little disappointed with how it turned out.

I loved the idea and the world-building of the entire series! I love reading dystopian books, and was really impressed with Reboot! Rebel’s plot though, had some problems.

For one, some scenes lacked emphasis. At some point, I’m pretty sure I nodded off while reading a chapter. Like, this guy is supposed to be a huge character in the story, but the things that he goes through are just quick lines without real descriptions to fully understand how important some scenes are.

Another problem with the plot was there were a lot of conflicts that became a dead end. I can’t really give a lot of solid examples since they’d be spoilers, but let’s just say that Tintera left a lot of loose ends! A lot of questions were left unanswered, even by the end of the book.

Character-wise, there weren’t really any problems aside from Wren. Wren, a girl who Rebooted 178 minutes after dying was supposed to be emotionless, which Tintera properly described in Reboot. In Rebel, however, she suddenly changed. A lot. She just seemed a little out of character to me…

The other characters were no problem, though. Callum finally crawled out of his wimpy shell, and Addie was still as badass as ever!

Even though I didn’t particularly like Wren’s sudden change of heart, I’m still very much a fan of the romance! The development was just awesome! It’s one of the few books wherein you could track the progress the couple made! It was full of feels, and very swoon-worthy.

The writing style, I don’t have a problem with. The editing was faulty, though. It was my main problem with this book! If you have the galls to publish a book, the least you could do was make sure that no errors are present! Such as:

“We had a found a way to survive.”

“Let the humans leave who want to leave.”

Despite the bad stuff though, I still feel that Rebel was an enjoyable conclusion to the Reboot series!
