Hey there, readers! So lately, I’ve been thinking. School’s about to come up (here in the Philippines, at least) and I know that I won’t be able to read as much as I did this summer. So I decided to do the 100 hours challenge!
What is Project 100 Hours?
The purpose of this project is pretty simple! For 100 days, my goal is to be able to read for at least one hour per day. After these 100 days, hopefully the hour-a-day reading will be etched into my system and be naturally part of my schedule. And with that, reading an hour a day will be pretty normal for me, and I wouldn’t have to force myself to make time for it because it’ll just be there. There will always be time for reading.
Can anyone participate in this challenge?
Why yes! If you guys want to join me in my 100-hour reading goal, you can! There’s no official way of signing up, but I’d like to know if you guys are interested to join by leaving a comment or tweeting (or posting on Instagram) with #Project100Hours! You can tweet to us your daily progress. You guys can also add our challenge button to your blog sidebar!
<div align="center"><a href="https://iadorkyou.wordpress.com/2014/05/27/project-100-hours/" title="Project 100 Hours"><img src="http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t661/TheShadowersShelf/Project100HoursButton_zpsc86c9652.png" alt="Project 100 Hours" style="border:none;" /></a></div>
You can tweak the challenge to your liking. If you think 100 days is too much, you can try for just 50 days and see where it goes from there! Or maybe if you already read for an hour a day, you can make it two hours a day!
Basically…
I encourage all of you guys to join me in my quest! I myself will start this June, since it won’t be a challenge if I start now. But you guys can start at any day, any time, as long as you keep it up for 100 days (or whatever your goal is)! I found some useful tips from Bec @ Readers in Wonderland’s post: One Does Not Simply Find Time to Read.
Will you be participating?
I read too much as is. x) But somedays I think this would be good for me, actually!! Especially if I get into a slump. (Gah, reading slumps are. the. worst.) Can’t wait to see progress updates!!

Haha! Slumps suck so much! I hate not reading. D:

This is such a good idea! I read quite a bit anyway, so I’d probably do it for writing (which I do not do NEARLY enough). I like the idea that it will be so ingrained you won’t NEED to make time for it – it will just be part of your schedule :)

I don’t write enough, either! D:

Awesome idea, Aimee! Hopefully this will encourage people to read more everyday! I already read too much everyday so this won’t be any benefit for me, BUT like Emily, I may do it instead towards writing stuff instead! ^^ Will spread the word!

Wow, we’re like channeling our thoughts here-I’ve just made the commitment to read for one hour every day, because lately reading has gotten pushed aside in my life, which is causing issues (hard to write reviews when I’m not reading any books :P). This is actually going to be the topic of the first post of my new feature, Bookish Chat, which I’ll be putting up on my blog next Friday :) I’m going to join in with you, and I’ll tie your challenge into my post! Great idea :D

well that’s a pretty interesting idea. I’ll definitely participate once June starts :D This is probably a nice thing to commit myself into so that I won’t get too absorbed of school-related stuff (or just plain procrastinate in my reading)…

School is starting again for you already??!? My school isn’t even out for the summer yet!
This sounds like an awesome idea, but since my school hasn’t even ended yet, and I’ll be already reading already too much during the summer break, I might try this instead in the fall.

Yes, sadly. D: Have a fun summer vacation, Carissa!

What a great challenge! We had something similar with writing a while back. You had to write 100 words for 100 days straight. 100 words was nothing at all, and a lot of people found they could maintain their goal even while on vacation, sick with the flu, etc.

That’s great! I should really write more, too!

To be honest, it’s normal for me to read about 3 hours a day already. But good luck. You can do it!!!

Great idea, Aimee! And thanks for linking up :) I really struggle with trying to find time to read, especially having to balance school, work, and just life in general. Not to mention blogging D: I’ll probably be trying to do this, tentatively :)

Thanks, Alise! It’s getting harder to find time to read. ><

I love this idea!! I tend to read in binges — I’ll read for hours one day, and then not at all the next. And Goodreads keeps reminding me that I’m behind on my reading goal. I will try to join you, maybe starting in June?

This is an awesome idea! Once my grad program starts I don’t think I’ll be able to read as much too so I will definitely be part of this challenge along with my #100happydays challenge. Awesome idea Aimee! :)

OOOOOOH FUN! I might join in on this, but I’ll make a smaller goal of 30 days! I’ll just do it throughout June, and maybe I can keep it up for 100 days, we’ll see! :D Love the idea, though! Much luck to you on your 100 hours!!!

THanks, Rosie! I hope you go through with 100 days. =)

Before my slump, I read for hours in a day! It’s a good goal to have when on a slump, huh? But man, I just need good books to read!

Same here! Recently I’ve been reading soooo slowly.

This is doable in my case since my travel time is 2-3 hours and that’s the time I get to read although I don’t do it religiously. All right, challenge accepted!

This is such a great idea Aimee. I know how school can take up so much time. But in my case, I opted reading and became a mediocre student. Haha! Definitely a bad example. :P I won’t really need this though since I pretty much read a lot already, except on reading slumps. But I hope this works really well for you. :D

I do say I read an hour a day, but i’m not sure if that’s true!! I try to, but sometimes I’m so short of time, y the time i get into bed I cant face doing anything but sleepy!! This a great way to motivate yourself though, and throughout the summer I’m aiming to read 1 1/2 hours a day. Not sure how realistic this will be though!
