Tia and Will’s lives get flipped upside down when they’re voted Yearbook’s Biggest Flirts in this sassy novel from the author of Endless Summer and The One That I Want.
Tia just wants to have fun. She’s worked hard to earn her reputation as the life of the party, and she’s ready for a carefree senior year of hanging out with friends and hooking up with cute boys. And her first order of business? New guy Will. She can’t get enough of his Midwestern accent and laidback swagger.
As the sparks start to fly, Will wants to get serious. Tia’s seen how caring too much has left her sisters heartbroken, and she isn’t interested in commitment. But pushing Will away drives him into the arms of another girl. Tia tells herself it’s no big deal…until the yearbook elections are announced. Getting voted Biggest Flirts with Will is, well, awkward. They may just be friends, but their chemistry is beginning to jeopardize Will’s new relationship—and causing Tia to reconsider her true feelings. What started as a lighthearted fling is about to get very complicated…

Despite only having read from Jennifer Echols once in the past, I did enjoy her writing and was eager to read more of her works. Then when I saw the absolutely adorable cover for Biggest Flirts and fell for the fluffy-sounding synopsis, of course I had to read it next.
Our heroine is Tia, and she’s a girl you’ll either love or hate. She’s a bit of a wild girl and isn’t afraid to admit that she enjoys fooling around with boys. Personally, I thought her character was really unique–a lot of the heroines we come across are a bit too nice, right? The best part about her character was that she really seemed like a teen. We’ve all seen complaints about main characters seeming like old ladies or children–I didn’t experience that with Biggest Flirts.
Now, just because I liked Tia doesn’t mean everyone will. She was one of those heroines who didn’t want serious relationships and caused a lot of drama because of that. She had no contact with her sisters. She might be a bitch for some, even. It’s all up to how the readers interpret Tia’s character.
Like I said earlier, Tia had no contact with her sisters. This really saddened me a bit, since it does happen to people in real life. So family didn’t play a huge role in Tia’s story, but by the end of the book that had changed (a bit) and I was thankful for it. Aside from family, friends also did play a small role in the book. Tia had some friends who were supportive of her, but I wish there were more interactions with them.
The romance, of course, played the biggest part of the book. Will is the love interest, who was a bit immature at first, but then he grew into his own skin and I really liked his character by the end of the book. Again, I thought his character was a realistic teen, too–pretty bipolar and tends to make unwise choices. He and Tia were both so similar yet so different–I guess that explains their undeniable chemistry, despite their quick-paced romance (but hey, that’s teen love for you)!
Biggest Flirts is a book you’ll either love or hate. Best go into it with an open mind.
A quickie overview:
Read this if: You want something cute and genuinely funny. You like YA narrators who actually sound like real teens.
Don’t read this if: Quick-developing romances make you cringe. You don’t like high school drama (kind of) and on-and-off relationships.

Sounds like something I might enjoy! :D

I rarely come across YA heroines who DON’T want a relationship. Not the biggest Echolls fan but I’ll give this a try because I need a book like this. I DEVOUR high-school dramas, especially when they’re super trashy. Shame about the sisters though.

LOL! There are a lot of those, too. :P You’ll probably like this if those are the types of books you like, Stuti!

Great review! :) I recently read Echols’ Dirty Little Secret and I’m eager for another one of her fun books. I totally understand what you said about the characters in YA not often acting their age. Glad to hear this one has the characters portrayed realistically!

I’ve never read any of her books, but to be honest I’m a bit worn out with romance at the moment. It’s just in every book I come across. So maybe I’ll pass on this one, but it’s nice that the teens were portrayed realistically :D

Haha! When I’ve had too much romance, I move on to a middle grade novel. :)

Tbh, I’ve been stalking you reading this book on instagram and such. I JUST FIND THE COVER ADORABLE, OKAY?? The plot also seems like one that’s pure fluff, which I definitely need as my life is one pile of homework after another. Not fun :p
Anyway, I’m intrigued by Tia. I honestly feel like sometimes in YA all of the characters sometimes blend into two types: super badass and sarcastic yayayayaya or the ones who are shy at first but grow into strength. So it’s nice to see some variety.Lol I’m very curious to see if I’ll dislike her or not. The love interest also does seem quite realistic. Hehe, as a teenage girl I can definitely attest to the fact that boys can be very confusing and totally hot and cold.
Great review Aimee c:

Sounds like they hit the nail on the head with the teenager’s voice now, we are always too used to those that seem too old for their age. At least she ended up coming around when it came to the sisters. Lovely review dear! x

Tia as a character definitely intrigued me but now I am unsure I want to read this considering I have little to no tolerance of quick-developing relationships ^^;; But finally, a realistic teenage voice and someone confident of her herself and sexuality :) Confidence is something everybody would like in a person, and I’m glad Tia exuded with that! I’ll have to think more about this one…

I only tried one book by Jennifer Echols and had no luck with it, but it seems like even people who didn’t like that one enjoyed this one so I want to give it a try. It sounds like my kind of read for sure and I have an idea I’d like Tia. I enjoy realistic character over too-nice ones, any day, even if they’re not especially likeable. Take Courtney Summers books for instance! Plus any book with humor is a win! >.< Great review, Aimee! :)

I’ve only read one other book by Echols (Such a Rush) and I did enjoy it! I haven’t read from Courtney Summers yet, but I’m very curious about her books. Tia’s definitely a character you’ll either love or hate, so hopefully you’ll lean on the love side! :)

Insta-love and high school drama are two of the things that I try to avoid at all costs, so I don’t think this one is for me. But, at least Biggest Flirts was good for you!

I think the only book of the authors I’ve attempted to read is Dirty Little Secret (at least, I think that’s what it was called) but couldn’t get into it. I’d probably like Tia, I do like some bitchy characters, especially our MC’s since it is more realistic, people- especially their age, aren’t all happy-go-lucky goody-two-shoes. Even the nicest of people can be bitchy, it just realistic, and exactly like you said- characters that sound like their age. (Though, I do like characters that sound older than they are too). The romance would annoy me, though I guess it also depends on the characters and how I connect to them when it comes to fast paced ones. But the whole thing does sound authentic and realistic to the characters, especially when it comes to family issues (don’t know why she has no contact with them) but that does happen, along with extended family. Like you said, don’t think it’ll be for everyone but glad you enjoyed it at least! :)

I never know about books like this, haha. On one hand, I love the cute and entertaining, but I’m not always great with high school drama. I think I might still give it a try though, as I’ve been in a real contemporary mood at the moment. I’ve read one book by Echols in the past too and it was fun enough. I’m just hoping that I’ll be able to connect with Tia here. Thanks for the helpful review, Aimee!

This sounds like a great light, fluffy read! I’m glad it worked for you Aimee! It’s always great to hear that the narrator actually sounds like a real teen, as that’s something that puts me off a lot. The high school drama aspect and the quickly developing romance definitely aren’t my thing, but everything else sounds wonderful, so I’m definitely willing to give it a try! Thanks so much for sharing, and, as always, BRILLIANT review! <3

Those two on the cover, what a pair of goofy dorks. I love teen fluffies that aren’t all about meeting one boy, falling impossibly in love and spending the rest of the book swooning over him. It’s awesome that we even have characters like Tia to mix things up a bit. Definitely going to check it out.
Awesome review Aimee.
