Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the wonderful girls at The Broke and the Bookish.
This week I’ve decided to start doing Top Ten Tuesday posts! And our topic this week is “top ten of the most unique books we’ve read.” Here are my picks by genre:
Fantasy
1. The Archived by Victoria Schwab // How often is it that you come across a novel where people keep bodies to preserve their memories? And you can access these memories by touching them. Sometimes, though, these bodies wake up and Keepers are needed to bring them back to sleep in the Archive. Awesome, right?
2. Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen // I can’t stop raving about how awesome this novel is. I don’t read a lot about Trolls, but this one definitely changed my view on them. This one’ll change your views on trolls. In this novel, they’re portrayed as beautiful, cunning creatures that’ll lure you in and catch you when your off guard.
3. The Iron King by Julie Kagawa // A third court is added! It isn’t just the Summer and Winter courts in Kagawa’s novel. Here, were are introduced to the Iron Court.
4. Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder // This is another awesome high fantasy that features a girl who must taste the Commander’s food to ensure they aren’t poisoned. Mix that in with a beautifully crafted world and a hell of a lot of magic.
Science Fiction
5. Unwind by Neal Shusterman // Although I wasn’t a huge fan of this one, I can easily admit that it’s a unique novel. Children are sent off to be “unwound,” which is basically cutting their bodies apart and donating various parts to others.
6. Cinder by Marissa Meyer // Guys. Cinderella’s a cyborg.
7. Of Beast and Beauty by Stacey Jay // Did you guys know that Beauty was blind? But there was this garden of roses, that when she pricked herself and shed some blood, she could see? Hells yeah.
8. All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill // The main reason I think this is unique is because it’s one of those time travel novels that kept me hooked. We have then and now characters who meet… well, that’s not all that unique, but you get my point.
Contemporary
9. Ask Again Later by Liz Czukas // This contemporary novels showcases two possible outcomes of a girl’s choices. It was still done in a light way–very cute.
10. Such a Rush by Jennifer Echols // Female pilots. Not all that unique, but it’s the first I’ve read of in YA so far.

Great list! I’ve been meaning to read Ask Again later, it sounds really cute :)

Fantastic list! So many that I’ve yet to read, but have them on my list already. It was my first TTT this week too :)
Unwind sounds completely morbid! I had no idea what it was really about, only that it seems to have so many fans. The only one I’ve read is All Our Yesterdays, and really enjoyed it too. I wasn’t big on time travel, but that one changed my mind. I think I’m one of a small few who didn’t like Cinder, I couldn’t finish it actually. I really want to try again, but the start just seemed so dull.

Both it and Stolen Songbird have such detailed/intricate worlds and beautiful writing. Plus awesome characters like Cécile lol. It makes them stand out from other books in YA.
I’m sad to admit I haven’t read the other books on this list. Though I do have Ask Again Later on my E-reader and ready to go c:
