Emrys—a fiery, red-headed Fae—always embraced her life in the Highlands, far from the city’s draining technology, until she’s sent to London to rejoin the Faery Guard. But this isn’t any normal assignment—she’s sent to guard Prince Richard: Britain’s notorious, partying bad boy and soon-to-be King. The prince’s careless ways and royal blood make him the irresistible for the dark spirits that feed on mortals. Sweet, disheveled, and alive with adventure—Richard is one charge who will put Emrys’s magic and heart to the test.
When an ancient force begins preying on the monarchy, Emrys must hunt through the London’s magical underworld, facing down Banshees, Black Dogs and Green Women to find the one who threatens Richard’s life. In this chaos of dark magic, palace murders and paparazzi, Emrys finds herself facing an impossible choice. For despite all her powers, Emrys has discovered a force that burns brighter than magic: love.

This is another review with an unpopular opinion, I’d say! I shouldn’t have loved this book as much as I did. But I do–I love it!
Faeries? Check. Romance? Check. Women being badass? Check. What’s there not to love?
The storyline was amazing. Faeries as royal bodyguards? Can’t say that I’ve heard of that before. Faeries, living amongst us humans–if only it were true… I can’t really describe it that well, but all I can say was that the plot was very good! Another thing, it wasn’t predictable. The last few chapters… I didn’t see any of that coming!
The characters were properly developed, thank God! I would have liked for Emrys to be a little bit more badass, but oh well, every person, or faery, has their flaws, I guess. Richard, sweet, naïve, little Richard. He treated Emrys well. He was always concerned over her; he always put her first, and oh my God, he was great!
The romance *cue dreamy look* was perfect. It could also be that I was half asleep when I was reading this book, but I’m pretty sure the romance was good. When I was reading this, I had a permanent grin on my face, I had butterflies in my stomach, and I was just plain happy. The perfect word, actually, is kinikilig, but since I don’t know what the English translation of that word is, happy will have to suffice.
The writing was good. It was neat, completely understandable and not redundant. I wasn’t bored at all while reading and couldn’t put the book down.
This review is extra short, because I just feel that no matter how long this review is, I wouldn’t be able to do this book justice.
For some reason, I have little interest on books with Faeries as the main character, but you made this one sound really good, so I am going to check this out. Thanks for the review, Dyan!

Try it! But don’t blame me if you didn’t like it! My judgement may have been clouded that time… XD

Honestly, when a blogger recommends a book, I don’t blame them when I didn’t like it. :D

I love reading different reviews the good and the negative about the same book ,it’s always fun to see it from another persons perspective, especially when it’s so different. I, however was on the negative side of this one, (probably because I’m not really a “fae” person to begin with, and only actually downloaded it because of the “Royal” family part of it (I’m a sucker for a Royal family, even if they’re made up), and the Royal Guard thin was pretty unique), but I don’t know, there was something that just…irked me about it. But, so glad you loved it!

This looks like my kind of book! I love that it’s set in London, it’s so rare to find a good paranormal book set in the city I live in! I’ll definitely be adding this to my TBR list! It’s always a great day when I find new books to read! :D

I’ve seen some pretty varying reviews, but yours has got me thinking I should give this a try. I’m kind of burnt out on fairies, but the idea that this is actually in England makes it more appealing. And ooh, I’m all about the romance. :) Great review!

Ooh this sounds really good and well developed characters AND perfect romance? Yes please! I find too often one is put aside to develop the other. I had been eyeing this one for a while but this is the first review I read on it so, so far so good! Woot!

I agree that there are so many negative reviews for this one going around :( And I’m pretty sad because I really enjoyed myself reading this one!! :) Like you, the storyline was all I could ask for and I absolutely adored the faeries, royal intrigue and all of that lot!! :D
I’m so glad I have someone who loved this as much as I did :) Fantastic review, Aimee!!! :D <33

Ohh, interesting to see that it’s written by a male author (unless I’m wrong?). The cover looks pretty, but I’ve had a bad string of fairy books which I didn’t really enjoy. A little hesitant to read this one, but I’m so glad you enjoyed it! xx

It says that the author has a husband…so unless the author’s gay, i’m pretty sure she’s a woman… :)
