Say What You Will by Cammie McGovern
a standalone
to be published on March 27, 2014 by HarperTeen
contemporary | romance
John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars meets Rainbow Rowell’s Eleanor & Park in this beautifully written, incredibly honest, and emotionally poignant novel. Cammie McGovern’s insightful young adult debut is a heartfelt and heartbreaking story about how we can all feel lost until we find someone who loves us because of our faults, not in spite of them.
Born with cerebral palsy, Amy can’t walk without a walker, talk without a voice box, or even fully control her facial expressions. Plagued by obsessive-compulsive disorder, Matthew is consumed with repeated thoughts, neurotic rituals, and crippling fear. Both in desperate need of someone to help them reach out to the world, Amy and Matthew are more alike than either ever realized.
When Amy decides to hire student aides to help her in her senior year at Coral Hills High School, these two teens are thrust into each other’s lives. As they begin to spend time with each other, what started as a blossoming friendship eventually grows into something neither expected.
1. The premise sounds awesome. It sounds like it’ll be a tearjerker, really, which I would absolutely love. My favorite books are the ones that make me cry and get all the feels, so this one looks really good. And I may not be a fan of illness books, but I think the illnesses used here are kind of unique for a YA contemporary (there’re too many books with cancer now) and I’d love to read about them!
2. The new cover is adorable! The typography, the colors and everything look good together and I just want this on my shelf! But I think this version’s only available in ebook format. You can view the other version here.
The cover is soooooooooooooooo cute :3
Currently reading TFioS and loving it. <3 Will definitely check this out, 'cuz hello? Tearjerkers are my faves :D

I saw this on Edelweiss the other day and only just stopped myself from requesting it. That cover is really beautiful! I love it. And I think I want to read it but am not sure yet. Mainly because I am scared of the feels.

I missed it when it was on Edelweiss. :( Ah, feels. You gotta love them and hate them at the same time.

Ahh I have this one and I am SO excited to start it! I agree, the cover is absolutely beautiful and I am so ready to die of feels. Emotional books like this one are always must-haves, and I’m super excited, especially since it’s been marketed as a good choice for TFiOS fans.

I agree with you on both points! I LOVE the cover, simple yet artistic. And yes, I’ve never read the disorder and illness that is tackled on here in any other YA book, especially cerebral palsy. I’m very intrigued on how these two will connect!

Definitely interested in the aspect of illnesses. I do think cerebral palsy is an illness that should be discussed and dealt with. Super excited for this one!

This book looks like it’ll manage to make me cry buckets. Alike you I’m not really the biggest fan of illness books. However the relationship described between the characters seems very genuine and something I could get behind. I also love the cover, I think i prefer the ebook version to the other version haha.

Me too! I really do hope the characters give me some feels and hopefully rivers of tears. ;)

I absolutely love that cover! But I confess, I’m a bit nervous about comparing a book to John Green AND Rainbow Rowell. *shakes nervously* That’s a pretty big thing to live up to.

Not a HUGE fan of either of them, but I consider them pretty good authors, and to a lot of people, those are pretty high standards!
